BHS Student Historians Impress in San Diego, Move on to State Finals

We are so proud of our Bonsall High School student historians who participated in this year's National History Day San Diego. 34 participants, 14 award winners...and now 4 are moving on the state finals in Sacramento as San Diego County champions!

*San Diego County Champion Senior Level Individual Documentary: Julia for her documentary "William Wilberforce: The Man Who Changed Humanity"

*San Diego County Champion Senior Level Individual Documentary: Emily for her documentary "We Are the Same"

*San Diego County Champion Senior Level Historical Paper: Elmer for his paper "Jose Rizal: National Hero of the Philippines"

*San Diego County Champion Senior Level Individual Performance: Ori for his performance "Kent State Massacre"

*San Diego County Honorable Mention Group Exhibit: Daniela and Daisy for their exhibit "Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz"

*USS Midway Living Symbol of Freedom Award, given by the USS Midway Museum: Cheyenne for her exhibit "Custer's Last Stand from Crazy Horse's Perspective"

*Air and Space History Award, given by the San Diego Air and Space Museum: Catherine, Ginger, and Delainy for their exhibit "Rise and Fall of Galileo"

*Most Creative Interpretation of Theme Award, given by the Greater San Diego Council for Social Studies: Shawn for his exhibit "None But the Brave Can Eat the Fare"

*Outstanding Achievement of Historical Writing by Spanish Language Speakers Award, given by the University of San Diego History Department: Daniela and Daisy for their exhibit "Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz"

*Taking a Stand in the Classical World Award, given by Friends of the Classics: Daniel and Erick for their exhibit "Ptolemy and the Library of Alexandria"

*First Timers Award, given by the Francis Parker History Day Club: Caitlyn for her exhibit "Nancy Wake"
